چکیده

We calculate penguin contributions to the lifetime splitting between the Bs and the Bd meson. In the Standard Model the penguin effects are found to be opposite in sign, but of similar magnitude as the contributions of the current-current operators, despite of the smallness of the penguin coefficients. We predict τ(Bs) τ(Bd) − 1 = (−1.2± 10.0) · 10 · ( fBs 190MeV )2 , where the error stems from hadronic uncertainties. Since penguin coefficients are sensitive to new physics and poorly tested experimentally, we analyze the possibility to extract them from a future precision measurement of τ (Bs) /τ (Bd). Anticipating progress in the determination of the hadronic parameters ε1, ε2 and fBs/fBd we find that the coefficient C4 can be extracted with an uncertainty of order |∆C4| ≃ 0.1 from the double ratio (τ(Bs) − τ(Bd))/(τ(B)− τ(Bd)), if |ε1 − ε2| is not too small. 1e-mail:[email protected] 2e-mail:[email protected]

The Width Difference in the Bs − B̄s System ∗

We use the heavy quark expansion to investigate the width difference ∆Γ Bs between the B s mass eigenstates. The corrections of O(Λ QCD /m b) and O(m s /m b) to the leading order expression in the operator product expansion are derived and estimated to yield a sizable reduction of the leading result for ∆Γ Bs by typically 30%. For completeness we also quantify small effects due to penguin opera...

The role of electroweak penguin and magnetic dipole QCD penguin on hadronic b Quark Decays

This research, works with the effective Hamiltonian and the quark model. Using, the decay rates of matter-antimatter of b quark was investigated. We described the effective Hamiltonian theory which was applied to the calculation of current-current (Q1,2), QCD penguin (Q3,…,6), magnetic dipole (Q8) and electroweak penguin (Q7,…,10) decay rates. The gluonic penguin structure of hadronic decays ...

Next-to-Leading Order QCD Corrections to Spectator Effects in Lifetimes of Beauty Hadrons

Theoretical predictions of beauty hadron lifetimes, based on the heavy quark expansion up to and including order 1/mb , do not to reproduce the experimental measurements of the lifetime ratios τ(B)/τ(Bd) and τ(Λb)/τ(Bd). Large corrections to these predictions come from phase-space enhanced 1/mb contributions, i.e. hard spectator effects. In this paper we calculate the next-to-leading order QCD ...

Perturbative QCD analysis of B ( B → Xlν̄ ) , charm yield 〈 n c 〉 in B decay

Perturbative QCD analysis of B(B → Xl¯ ν), charm yield n c in B decay, and τ (Λ b)/τ (B d) Abstract We apply perturbative QCD factorization theorems to inclusive heavy hadron decays, and obtain simultaneously a low semileptonic branching ratio B(B → Xl¯ ν) = 10.16%, the average charm yield n c = 1.17 per B decay, a small lifetime ratio τ (Λ b)/τ (B d) = 0.78, and the correct absolute decay widt...

Theory of Beauty Lifetimes

A critical review of the theoretical understanding of the lifetimes of beauty hadrons is given. A model-independent analysis using the heavy-quark expansion allows for a description of the lifetime ratios τ(B−)/τ(B0) and τ(Λb)/τ(B 0) in a small region of parameter space. It is demonstrated that the lifetime ratio τ(B−)/τ(B0) cannot be used to extract the decay constant of the B meson. Implicati...
